Obigbo Foundation aka Center for Promotion and Preservation of Igbo Language and Heritage was officially unveiled on the 17th of June 2017 at Sam Mbakwe hall of Imo Concorde Hotel Owerri Imo State by Eze Imo HRM Eze Sam Agunwa Ohiri who chaired the occasion.
The event was graced by Nollywood veterans and actors, Traditional rulers from the south east, Captains of Industries, Igbo leaders, Igbo socio cultural groups, students and the press.
Obigbo unveiling was laced with cultural displays, presentations, and cultural fashion show.
The prestigious House of Dhabri Khenchy designed and made all the atrtires for the run way free of charge as a way to support and promote Igbo cultural heritage.
Zanders FM 105.7 positioned an OBV van at Concorde and broadcasted the event life.
Uzzy production sponsored all media coverage and photography for the unveiling. All hands were on deck to see to the success of the event which was sponsored by Uzoma Ihediohanma the MD of Uzzy production, Imo Concorde hotel, House of Dhabri khenchy . HRH Eze St George Ekeh, HRH Eze Prof. BA Nwachukwu , Mazi & Lolo Augustine U. Okwaraji, Imo State council of Ndi Eze and Individuals who are committed to preserving Igbo Language and Heritage.
Imo state Council of traditional rulers contributed immensely to the success of the event through their contact and moral supports. The founder of Obigbo foundation Chinyere Okparaji during her speech mentioned that Obigbo is set to frlag off its intervention programs that will save Igbo language from extinction. She explained that the ‘Ka anyi suo asusu Igbo ‘campaign (Lets speak Igbo) will kick off in December 2017.
The patrons of Obigbo Foundation HRM Eze Agunwa Ohiri the coordinator of South east council of traditional rulers, Eze St George Ekeh Ubom 1 of Ubomiri, and Kenneth Obalum Chairman of Gokos West Africa have vowed to do everything in their power to make Obigbo’s vision a reality.
Chinyere oKparaji and her Obigbo team which comprises of Nollywood veterans, actors and some urban professionals such as Chiwetalu Agu, Zack orji, Conac Umez, Vitalis Ndubuisi, Joyce Kalu, Paul Okparaji,
and others.
