Nollywood Actress Chinyere Vows to Bring Back Ibo Threaded Hair into Fashion

Nollywood Actress Chinyere Okparaji promotes Igbo culture with her newly found dress code and hair plaits. Chinyere is a very focused person and she says that everything she does is driven by the promotion of Igbo language and culture. Her two year old Obigbo project has finally been launched as Obigbo Foundation an Igbo socio cultural organization also referred to as Center for Promotion and Preservation of Igbo Language and Heritage.
When we met her at her office off Orlu Road in Owerri Imo state she was dressed in ancient Igbo attire and looked like an African Princess. She looked absolutely gorgeous in the native hair plaits she calls ‘Ishi eri’ one of the most ignored hairstyles in our time. Chinyere has vowed to bring back the hair style into the fashion trend of this age.
Chinyere has moved out of Abuja and relocated to the south east permanently to be able to flag off Obigbo’s intervention programs especially ‘Ka anyi suo asusu Igbo campaign (Lets speak Igbo) accross all primary, secondary and higher schools as well as public places in the seven Igbo speaking states in Nigeria. Obigbo Foundation is working in tandem with the chairmen of Traditional rulers in each of the states and the State Governors.
Her dress code and hair plaits is becoming popular on social media such as Face book and Instagram.
Chinyere says that her desire is to see beautiful Igbo girls and women and even non Igbos begin to wear the hair plaits.
