Artist In The Spotlight: Ekeh Sunny. (Solo)

"...I auditioned for a year and three months without getting any job"

Popularly known as "Solo" by his teaming fans and audiences across Africa as a result of his character in a Telecom company TV commercial.
Ekeh Sunny was born 7th June 1983 in Ebonyi state, a graduate of business administration from Unizik Awka, Anambra state.

For him, the journey into the entertainment industry is a childhood dream and passion. "Well, from when I was little boy I loved acting, I started by acting in my church's drama and kept improving from there" begins Sunny.

Even though he trained as a business administrator in the university, the love for the silver screen kept pulling the soft-spoken Actor cum model away from his primary constituency.
"Even when I was working a 9 to 5 I was still sneaking to attend auditions in modelling and acting"

And the love for the creative world overwhelmed the corporate spirit Sunny was trying to adapt to and he had to quit to pursue a career in a massively crowded, non-structured and unpredictable field and he more than had his share of setback and job drought. "It was very difficult when I started. My first Modelling job was an ushering job, that was easy but after that one I thought others will be as easy and smooth like the first one but I auditioned for a year and three months without getting any job" he poured.

That is sufficient enough for any sane, able-bodied man with a Bsc to quit, dust his certificate and revert to the corporate world but not for Sunex (as he is now called by colleagues), he has a dream and the passion comforted and drove him; he persevered, working hard as the jobs starts trickling in then comes the solo character in an Etisalat TV commercial as he went ahead to feature regularly in the Telecom's subsequent billboard, TV and radio commercials before he was made a brand ambassador.(Before he ports).

Sunnex has featured in several movies, TV series media commercials for different brands as he is also a well respected and connected Model manager scouting and promoting talents under his Modelling agency, SE media.

The breath-taking handsome Youngman is by all standards, a comfortable and eligible bachelor now. Asked when he would be getting "imprisoned" by a woman's heart? He smiled broadly "I'm not really in a rush right now John, but I should be settling down in a year or two by the grace of God" hmmmm! Marriage alert! All them ladies y'all need to start taking this dude serious now, it could be you. Hehehehe.

Giving his conspicuous dashing looks and carriage, I quizzed him further how he has been able to handle his female fans, he scratched his head and submits "well, that aspect is a bit difficult. When ladies say hi and I reply, a lot of them start feeling I'm already liking them but if i don't reply they say I'm a snub. It’s really crazy you know. I try to avoid very close contact with my female fans"

He asserts that his turnoff is fake arrogant and rude people and believes that his unique selling point in the industry is his facial expressions, smile and eyes.
Solo, as you all love to call him, didn't forget to drop a massage for his loyal fans "I love my fans and I wanna say a very big thank you to all of you, keep doing the good things you are known for and keep supporting me and I will never let you down. Be yourself, be unique, I love you all"
