Actor In The Spotlight: Seun Kentebe.

"...it's understandable if a producer prefers the "selling faces" to up-coming actors- Seun.
Seun kentebe is a business administrator turned actor who is gradually climbing the ladder through hard work. After being nominated for the AMVCA 2013, the amiable actor is at it again with another nomination. Enjoy my chat with him.

About Me.
SEUN: My name is Seun Kentebe, a Bayelsa State indigene. I'm a graduate of UNILAG and have a Bsc. in Business Administration. I'm currently an actor/Writer/Director/Voice actor, Content creator.

How I started.
SEUN: I actually started out as a stage manager. An actor in the production we were preparing for absconded a week to showtime then the director, Kayode Peters, told me to stand in for him and come show day, I performed. That was my baptism of fire in 2002.

Reading business admin and diverting to acting.
SEUN: In a sense I delved into acting. because it was fun, the ability to inhabit the skin and psychology of a world of characters attracted me then theatre performances helped boost my confidence and sharpen my mental alertness.

Achievement.
SEUN:Well, for me to still be considered relevant in this fast paced industry is an achievement on its own. I created the sitcom "Squatterz" and was nominated at the last AMVCA. I also Co-wrote the musical, "SARO" which placed me in the spotlight. My first lead in a movie is "Jonzing" directed by Mr. E and I also featured in an epic film titled ANTIQUE which will soon hit the cinemas.
What I'm currently working on.
SEUN: I'm currently working on several projects. I'm part of two stage productions, AREMU and UNCHANGED, to be staged next month at Terra Kulture

Recently nominations.
SEUN: I was recently nominated in the best new actor category of the Nollywood Reinvented Awards. I saw it on twitter and was really humbled by the recognition.

Seun in the next five years.
SEUN: If Jesus tarries, I see myself as a multiple award winning actor and screenwriter, a loving husband & father and executive producer of world class screen, radio, stage and movie productions. I also see myself featuring in Hollywood co-production films.
The so-called "selling faces" and talented up-coming actors.
SEUN: From a business angle, it's understandable if a producer prefers the "selling faces" to up-coming actors. At the end of the day, producers want to make money and who better to help them than actors that are household names. Up-coming actors need to push the envelope and see themselves as brands; social media has made it very easy to put one's name, face and body of work out to the public.

Compensation for writers in Nollywood.
SEUN: On remuneration, On a scale of 1 to 10, would say 5. As it is, the more popular you are, the higher the remuneration as a writer in nollywood.
